Watch the National Geographic video U.S. Mining Law contested
For those that do not know what an open pit mine looks like, here's a photo of the Lavender Pit in Bisbee Arizona, it is 1/3 as deep and less than 1/2 as wide as the proposed Rosemont Pit. The yellow line is 1/2 mile showing the width of the Lavender pit. The Rosemont pit will be 1 mile wide and 3 times deeper. Remember that is only the pit, the tailings and waste rock will consume another 6 square miles of our Coronado forest if they approve it.
