8/20/2007 Western Economic Analysis center report on the impact of the Rosemont Mine on the economies of Pima County, Arizona, and the United States The report Rosemont keeps quoting from.  They quote the Direct and Indirect impact of the mine.  Indirect means the aggregate impact of spending a dollar down the spending chain.  It is a bit deceiving. (11 MB)

11/30/2007 Marketing Intelligence report to Augusta on survey findings for the survey conducted in Tucson (the one that reported 64.5% favorable response)

3/22/2008 Giffords - Grijalva Letter to forest service to suspend the scoping process

4/1/2008 MUST READ read Augusta's response to the scoping process extension.  They say they welcome the public input but think the extension of the scoping process was too long?    The original plan in the forest services Notice of Intent only provided 30 days for public comments and three meetings were scheduled back to back.  See a great video of the Patagonia meeting.  Thank god for the two citizens who spoke up, it was the start of the true public education.  Of course I'm still  dismayed that Patagonia, Vail, and Green Valley, the communities most affected by the mine, did not get their own open mike meeting for public comments.

Arizona Revised Statues Title 11 - counties

Arizona Revised Statutes Title 11 - Chapter 6, ASR 11-830 Restriction on regulation; exceptions; aggregate mining regulation; definitions.  This is Arizona's answer to county zoning and ordinances.  It exempts mines greater than 5 acres from following the county rules.  I think its time to change this, or if the state won't then they need responsible regulations in place.  Mines can use as much water as they want in Arizona!
